About the D07

The Esoteric D-07 is a premium digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for high-fidelity two-channel audio systems. It features a robust build with a 5mm-thick, sandblasted aluminum case, echoing the design of other Esoteric components like the E-03 phono preamplifier. The D-07 includes AES/EBU and S/PDIF inputs (with two electrical and one optical TosLink jack), as well as a USB input. It also supports TTL-compatible word-clock input and output, ensuring precise timing and synchronization in multi-component setups. The analog output is available in both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA configurations, with an output impedance of 100 ohms, making it suitable for driving virtually any preamplifier or cable. The D-07 uses a single AKM 4392 chip per channel for D/A conversion, capable of handling both PCM and DSD data. It includes a 256-step digital attenuator and an 8x oversampling digital filter, which can be set to either minimum- or linear-phase types. The balanced output stage is based on a Muses 8820 op-amp chip followed by discrete transistors, ensuring high-quality audio reproduction. The remote control is optional, allowing users with existing Esoteric remotes to control the D-07 without additional cost.
