About the Aretha MKII 6SL7
The Erhard Audio Aretha MKII is a highly regarded tube preamplifier designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional tone quality and listening pleasure. It uses the excellent 6SL7 triode tubes, known for their high gain factor and classic sound, allowing a simple two-tube-per-channel circuit design. The preamp features a Baxandall tone control circuit with treble and bass adjustments to compensate for imperfect recordings and room acoustics, with an option to bypass tone controls entirely (tone defeat). The power supply is a custom-designed linear B+ supply with regulated DC tube filament and a toroidal transformer, configurable for 120V 60Hz or 220-240V 50Hz operation. High-quality components include low-noise Vishay metal film resistors, Panasonic metal oxide resistors, WIMA film and Wurth electrolytic capacitors, and Mundorf MCap EVO coupling capacitors. The volume control is a precision 59-step attenuator with CNC-machined aluminum body, offering -60dB to 0dB range. The preamp is housed in a custom wood chassis and ships with a matched quad of factory new 6SL7 tubes, with the option to use client-supplied tubes. Additional upgrades include stereo/mono switch, remote control, and tone defeat switch. Pricing varies with options and configurations, starting at for the standard model.
