The Epos ELS-8 is a two-way bookshelf speaker derived from the earlier ELS 3 model, designed to offer a wider frequency range and enhanced aesthetics. It features a larger, internally braced cabinet made from 18mm thick MDF with a stylish curved front baffle to reduce diffraction. The speaker houses a 150mm polypropylene cone bass/mid driver with a molded frame and a 25mm metal dome tweeter with a shallow horn-shaped front plate for smooth and extended high frequencies. The rear-ported cabinet is tuned to 56 Hz and comes with a removable cloth grille. It is available in light maple or black oak vinyl finishes and works best on the custom Epos ST35 stands. The ELS-8 has a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, sensitivity of 85dB (2.83V/1m), and is compatible with amplifiers rated between 25 and 100 watts. It is recommended to position the speakers at least 20 cm from the rear wall for optimal performance. The speaker weighs approximately 5.67 kg each and measures 310 x 180 x 215 mm (HxWxD). Although discontinued, the ELS-8 is noted for its balanced sound, good timing, and versatility across music genres, though some reviews mention it lacks dynamic vigor and emotional engagement compared to higher-end models.
