About the ELS-3

The Epos ELS-3 is a shielded two-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker with a 130mm midbass driver and a 25mm aluminum dome tweeter using a neodymium magnet. The bass driver features a diecast aluminum chassis and an injection-molded polymer cone with a tapered profile for smooth integration with the tweeter. The tweeter uses a 40 micron thick aluminum alloy diaphragm with a polyamide suspension to reduce coloration and handle high power. The crossover is a 2nd order filter for the bass driver and a 3rd order filter for the tweeter at 3kHz. The cabinet is constructed from 12mm high-density chipboard with a 25mm front baffle, finished in light cherry, dark cherry, or black veneer. The speaker has gold-plated screw terminals and biwire capability. It is praised for natural tonal balance, wide soundstage, and superior midbass definition for its price range. Dimensions are 270mm high, 174mm wide, and 195mm deep, weighing 4.5kg per speaker. Recommended amplifier power is 25 to 150 watts. The ELS-3 is noted for excellent sound quality at an entry-level price point, with a sensitivity of 87dB and nominal impedance of 4 ohms.
