About the XSD15
The EMT XSD15 is a high-quality broadcast stereo cartridge designed for use with SME standard tonearms. It features two stylus options: a spherical diamond with a 15µm tip radius (XSD 15 SPH) and a super fine line diamond (XSD 15 SFL). The cartridge uses an aluminum cantilever and a moving coil stereo transducer. It has a vertical tracking angle of 23°, a tracking force of 2.5 grams, and weighs 21 grams. The output transfer level is 0.21 mVs/cm with a compliance of 12 µm/mN. Its frequency response is very wide, with ±2dB from 20 Hz to 25 kHz for the spherical stylus and 40 Hz to 12.5 kHz for the super fine line stylus. The cartridge has an impedance of 2x 24 ohms and recommends a load of 200 to 300 ohms. The XSD15 was discontinued in 2020 but remains respected for its detailed, robust, and live sound character, suitable for professional broadcast and audiophile use. It is Swiss made by EMT-Tontechnik.
