About the EP 2.8

The Emerald Physics EP2.8 speakers are a state-of-the-art 3-way, 4-driver open baffle loudspeaker system designed for high efficiency and exceptional sonic performance. They feature two custom-designed 15" carbon fiber woofers and 12" midrange drivers that provide increased speed, transparency, and resolution, eliminating midrange smear. The speakers have a controlled dispersion design that minimizes room interaction, making them suitable for all room types. The EP2.8 offers 100dB efficiency (97dB in single-amp full-range mode) and can be configured for single-amp, bi-amp, or tri-amp operation, with tri-amping providing improved dynamics and an additional 3dB efficiency. Bass response is flat down to 20Hz, enhanced further by optional DSP crossovers (DSP2.8) that fine-tune frequency response and extend bass from 35Hz to 20Hz. The speakers are recognized for their tight, integrated bass, open midrange, and expansive soundstage, competing with systems costing multiple times their price. Originally8 has been discontinued and sold out. They were highly praised at shows such as Newport and paired well with Emerald Physics amplifiers and bass optimization modules for a complete high-fidelity system.
