About the Laser 1
The ELP Laser 1 (also known as LT-1XA or LT-1XRC in some versions) is a high-end laser turntable that plays vinyl records using laser beams instead of a traditional stylus. It offers contact-free playback, eliminating record wear and providing CD-quality sound. The system uses five laser beams: two to read groove modulations, two to track groove shoulders, and one to maintain focus and height. It supports multiple speeds including 30-50 rpm and 60-90 rpm for playing 78 rpm records, including antique ones. The turntable includes features like variable optical scanning (VOS) to adjust laser focus on groove walls, allowing playback of worn or damaged records by reading less worn groove areas. It outputs a phono-level signal requiring a phonostage unless the equalized version is purchased. The unit is sensitive to dirt and requires meticulous record cleaning for optimal playback. It includes a noise blanker, though its effectiveness is minimal. The turntable is computer-controlled with belt drive and offers exceptional channel separation, no tracking error, and no inner-groove distortion. It weighs approximately 17.6 kg and is considered a premium audiophile device with a price around .
