About the 6006B
The Elgar 6006B is an Ultra Precision Line Conditioner (UPLC) that uses a substantial double-shielded isolation transformer combined with buck/boost circuitry to provide AC correction without regenerating the waveform, resulting in high efficiency and low distortion (maximum 0.2% THD). It is rated for approximately 10A continuous current and 1 kW power capacity, with input voltage selectable via a 3-position tap switch covering 95-135 VAC at 57-63 Hz. The unit features 100 dB input/output isolation at 60 Hz, line and load regulation of ±0.025%, and a very fast impulse response time of less than 20 microseconds. It includes front panel overload indication and protection, forced air cooling, and metering for input voltage, output voltage, and output current. The build quality is high, with carefully laid out wiring, shielding, and high-spec components such as Dale resistors and film capacitors. The unit weighs approximately 15 lbs and measures about 5.25 inches high, 16 inches wide, and 8.5 inches deep. It is discontinued but remains sought after for its sonic improvements in HiFi systems when properly maintained and serviced.
