About the Nemo 600
The Electrocompaniet Nemo 600 (AW600) is a flagship monaural power amplifier renowned for its absolute fidelity and powerful performance. Originally developed for Abbey Road Studios to handle demanding speakers like the B&W Nautilus 801, it features proprietary Floating Transformer Technology (FTT) that delivers twice the current of traditional power supplies, ensuring stable power delivery and low noise. The amplifier operates in class A at low power and switches to class AB at higher power levels. It is DC coupled from input to output, uses bipolar transistors, and has an impressive damping factor exceeding 850, allowing it to drive speakers with impedances as low as 0.5 ohms. The design includes two AW180M monoblocks bridged in one housing, with a power output of 600 W at 8 ohms and 1200 W at 4 ohms. Connectivity includes a single balanced XLR input, balanced output for bi-amping, and two pairs of WBT screw terminals for bi-wiring. The amplifier weighs 41 kg and measures 465 x 288 x 450 mm (W x H x D). It is made entirely in Norway, ensuring premium quality and craftsmanship. The Nemo 600 is praised for its natural, even-handed sound with exceptional dynamics, resolution, and bass control, making it a reference standard in high-end amplification.
