About the EMC 1 UP 24bit/192kHz Mk.II
The Electrocompaniet EMC 1 UP is a refined CD player originally launched in 2001 as an upgrade to the critically acclaimed EMC 1. It incorporates 24-bit/192kHz upsampling technology and a unique mechanical cancellation system that effectively cancels acoustic and mechanical vibrations, preventing the laser pick-up from receiving unwanted signals. This results in superior sound reproduction with tighter bass, a larger soundstage, precision, high resolution, and detailed musicality. The player uses a Philips CDM-PRO 2 top-loading transport housed in a vibration-isolating metal block with soft rubber feet. It features fully balanced symmetrical state-of-the-art circuitry powered by Electrocompaniet's Floating Transformer Technology (FTT) power supply, which is also used in their amplifiers. The EMC 1 UP offers both balanced (XLR) and single-ended (RCA) outputs, with a true balanced system design and no volume control. The player is built with a 7kg steel-damped mechanism on carefully selected damping feet to minimize jitter and mechanical interference. It is controlled via front panel buttons or a dedicated remote control. Dimensions are approximately 483 mm (19 inches) wide, 440 mm (17.3 inches) deep, and 115 mm (4.5 inches) high, weighing about 20 kg (44 lbs). Power consumption is 23 W. The EMC 1 UP is praised for its musicality, natural timbre, and dynamic prowess, delivering an analog-like warmth and palpability without sacrificing resolution or detail.
