About the EMC 1 UP
The Electrocompaniet EMC 1 UP is a critically acclaimed CD player originally introduced in 2001 as an improvement over the original EMC 1. It incorporates a unique mechanical cancellation system that effectively cancels acoustic and mechanical vibrations, preventing the laser pick-up from receiving unwanted signals that degrade sound quality. This results in tighter bass, a bigger soundstage, precise high resolution, and amazing detail. The player uses a fully balanced symmetrical circuit design powered by Electrocompaniet's Floating Transformer Technology (FTT) power supply. It features a top-loading Philips CD PRO transport, 24-bit/192kHz DAC upsampling, and outputs including AES/EBU and XLR balanced connections. The EMC 1 UP is housed in a robust chassis with mechanical filters tuned by extensive listening tests to reduce resonance and vibration. It consumes 23 watts of power and weighs 20 kg. The player is fully remote controlled (without volume control) and is designed for audiophile-grade performance with very low distortion and noise levels.
