About the ECI-3

The Electrocompaniet ECI-3 is a high-performance, fully balanced, DC-coupled integrated stereo amplifier featuring Electrocompaniet's Floating Transformer Technology (FTT) power supply. This FTT design uses a 550 VA transformer and a large 40,000 µF current reservoir to deliver 2 x 70 W into 8 Ω, 2 x 120 W into 4 Ω, and 2 x 160 W into 2 Ω, providing clean, powerful dynamics and very high peak current capability (over 60 A) for demanding loudspeakers. The amplifier is stable into low-impedance loads (specified down to 2 Ω) and is designed to comfortably drive a wide range of speaker types. The ECI-3 is fully balanced and remote-controlled, with six line-level inputs including a balanced CD input, plus single-ended tape output and a balanced preamplifier output that can feed an additional power amplifier for bi-amping or use as a preamp-only front end. It is equipped with a balanced, motorized volume control and relay-based input switching to minimize sonic degradation. The output stage is DC-coupled with very low output impedance (<0.01 Ω) and low total harmonic distortion (around 0.005% at 1 kHz, half power into 8 Ω). The chassis follows Electrocompaniet's Classic line aesthetic, with a black acrylic front panel and gold-colored controls, and comes supplied with a remote control. Dimensions are approximately 483 x 115 x 410 mm and weight about 12 kg.
