About the ECI 2
The Electrocompaniet ECI 2 is a high-fidelity stereo integrated amplifier designed with a unique two-stage amplifier circuit to minimize distortion and improve sound quality. It features Class A operation with an efficiency of less than 0.1%, a 550 VA toroidal transformer power supply, and a large reservoir capacitor bank for stable power delivery. The amplifier delivers 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with the capability to drive loads down to 2 ohms. It has extremely low total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 0.005% at 1 kHz half power and an output impedance below 0.01 ohms. The preamplifier section has an input impedance of 17 kOhm, input sensitivity of 0.3 V for rated output, and very low equivalent input noise of less than 3 µV. The amplifier dimensions are 432 x 115 x 400 mm, and it weighs 11 kg. The design avoids overall feedback loops to reduce phase and intermodulation distortion, resulting in a clear and natural sound reproduction.
