About the EC3

The Electrocompaniet EC-3 is a high-end dual mono balanced preamplifier that offers fully balanced amplification from input to output. It supports moving coil (MC) and moving magnet (MM) cartridges with gains of 52dB (MC) and 32.6dB (MM), and a line gain of 16dB. The preamp delivers a maximum output of 14V (Pre out Max) and maintains a signal-to-noise ratio of 85dB for both MC and MM inputs. It features approximately 25 transistors per channel and balanced differential amplification, allowing for balanced end-to-end signal processing. The unit measures 483 x 87 x 227 mm and is known for its robust build and audiophile-grade performance. The top metal cover and rack handles may be repainted in some units, and knobs may show wear due to age. The EC-3 is regarded as a superb preamplifier with a classic design and excellent sonic qualities.
