About the Little Big Phono
The Little Big Phono, introduced by Einstein Audio in 2009, is a compact yet powerful phono preamplifier highly regarded for its exceptional sound quality and advanced features. It employs a dual mono design housed in individual chassis with a separate power supply, ensuring perfect channel separation and ultra-low noise performance optimized for low output moving coil cartridges. The device offers a gain of 68 dB (2500x amplification) with a signal-to-noise ratio around 77-80 dB, and very low distortion (THD approximately 0.05% to 0.18%). The input loading is adjustable via custom RCA plugs with resistor loading modules, allowing precise impedance matching without signal path interference. The RIAA equalization is passive for high frequencies and active for lower frequencies, contributing to a clean, transparent sound with excellent frequency response and dynamic range. The phono stage weighs about 2 to 6 kg depending on configuration and measures approximately 215 x 360 x 150 mm. It is praised for its noise-free operation, transparency, and ability to reveal fine vinyl details, making it a favorite among audiophiles seeking a high-fidelity analog front end.
