The Tube Mk.1 is a fully balanced line-stage-only preamplifier featuring 19 vacuum tubes, with nine tubes dedicated to the main line-stage circuit. It offers two single-ended inputs, three balanced inputs, and balanced outputs, with an option for single-ended outputs. The unit has a compact design with volume and input knobs on the front, and a tube cage for protection and ventilation. A key design feature is the volume control placed outside the signal path to minimize signal degradation. The preamplifier is noted for its exceptionally low noise floor, comparable to the best solid-state preamps, enabling it to reveal the lowest levels of detail in music. It delivers a forceful and immediate presentation with wide dynamic range and weighty, deep bass. The soundstage is clear and muscular, with a forward-most plane closer to the listener than many other preamps. The IEC power cord inlet is located on the bottom front, requiring a 90-degree connector.
