The Ediscreation Silent Switch OCXO Extreme is the original 8-port audiophile Ethernet switch variant of Ediscreation’s Silent Switch OCXO range (not the later Silent Switch OCXO II Extreme). It combines a built-in oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO), a linear internal power supply, audio-grade RJ45 sockets, a ground-isolation function, and a CNC-machined aluminium chassis to reduce noise and improve clock stability in network-audio systems. The Extreme version adds upgraded AC inlet, capacitors, internal wiring, a copper base, and a Silver Bybee component versus the standard version. Manufacturer and dealer materials describe it as intended for use between a router and network streamer, music server, NAS, or DAC. The available documentation does not publish a full set of conventional audio measurements such as analogue frequency response, SNR, THD, amplifier output, or DAC specifications; these are generally not applicable to an Ethernet switch. Its published performance figures focus on Ethernet connectivity, clock jitter/stability, construction, and power-supply architecture.
