About the NL12.1

The Edge NL12.1 is a dual-mono solid-state power amplifier featuring proprietary Laser Optical Bias Circuitry that uses a 630 nm wavelength laser per channel to maintain optimum bias and achieve a tenfold increase in gain with exceptional linearity and speed. It delivers 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 600 watts into 4 ohms, combining the deep extended bass typical of solid-state amplifiers with mids and highs that resemble tube amplifier sound. The amplifier uses up to 32 N-channel bipolar transistors in the output stage for very low output impedance (0.03 ohms), and includes oversized binding posts, multiple low-leakage 10,000 µF capacitors per channel, and medical-grade transformers housed in magnetic stainless steel enclosures for low noise and non-inductive performance. The chassis is constructed from 1/2" thick 6061 aluminum with marine-grade stainless steel screws, and heat sinks machined from solid 6061 bar stock keep the transistors cool without fans. The amplifier weighs approximately 103 pounds and measures 19" deep x 15" wide x 9" high. It is praised for delivering seamless, detailed, and natural music reproduction without the typical drawbacks of tube amplifiers such as heat and maintenance.
