About the Zana Deux Super
The Eddie Current Zana Deux Super is a premium tube headphone amplifier designed and developed by Craig Uthus. It features a classic American vintage aesthetic with a semi-crackle finish and robust industrial design inspired by iconic American cars like the '67 Mustang. The amplifier is an output transformerless (OTL) design using two 6C33C-B power triodes (one per channel), a 6SL7 input tube, and damper diodes, with an external low noise toroidal power transformer housed in a separate power supply unit. It offers three inputs, two line outputs for preamp use, and a Hi/Lo impedance switch to drive headphones from 8 to 600 ohms. The Zana Deux Super is hand-wired point-to-point with no printed circuit boards, uses inductor LC power supply filters with polypropylene capacitors, and features nickel-plated caps for enhanced detail. It delivers up to 650 mW power output in low impedance mode and has a wide frequency response extending beyond 100 kHz. The amp runs hot due to the powerful tubes and chassis acting as a heat sink. It is highly regarded for its speed, dynamics, natural tonality, excellent control, and spacious soundstage, making it a favorite among audiophiles. The unit includes Sovtek 6C33C-B tubes, a Brimar 6SL7 tube, and Svetlana 6D22S tubes, and comes with a detachable 4-foot umbilical power cord. The Zana Deux Super is considered timeless audio art and is one of Eddie Current's longest-running and most talked-about headphone amplifiers.
