About the FM5

The Dynaco FM-5 is the culmination of over six years of Dynaco design research, aiming to deliver exemplary FM reception performance at a modest cost. It succeeded the popular FM-3 vacuum tube tuner, offering transistorized operation, improved sensitivity, and lower distortion. The FM-5 is known for its straightforward, extruded aluminum front panel, black metal enclosure, and generous internal layout that facilitates both kit construction and serviceability. It includes a built-in volume control, auxiliary input for external sources, and advanced muting and tuning circuits for clean, distortion-free audio. The tuner automatically switches to stereo reception when a stereo broadcast is detected, illuminating a stereo indicator. Its design emphasizes flexibility for future upgrades and reliable operation under a wide range of reception conditions.
