About the A25
The Dynaco A-25 is a highly regarded two-way bookshelf loudspeaker system produced from the late 1960s into the 1970s. It is celebrated for its simple yet effective design, featuring a 10-inch woofer and a soft dome tweeter, typically 1.5 inches in diameter. The woofer uses a heavy-duty paper cone with a large voice coil, while the tweeter is made from silk. Early models used a SEAS H087 tweeter, with later production switching to a Scan-Speak D3808. The A-25 employs an aperiodic (non-resonant) cabinet design, which helps achieve a smooth, controlled bass response and a uniform impedance characteristic throughout the bass range. The crossover is set at 1500Hz, and the tweeter level is user-adjustable via a stepped potentiometer. The A-25 is praised for its musicality, detail, and ability to deliver a well-balanced sound across a wide range of music genres.
