The Durand Record Weight is engineered to add focus, energy, and naturalness to vinyl playback by ensuring optimal contact between the record and platter, especially effective with warped or bowed LPs. It features a unique five-level barrier of materials including hardwood, exotic metal, Teflon, and sapphire feet to drastically reduce macro- and micro-vibrations that can degrade sound quality. The weight is smaller than a record label diameter to clear most cartridges at the end of a record. It was introduced in 2013 and is praised for adding textural detail, snap, leading edge definition, and harmonic richness without altering the original signal or sounding brighter or edgy. While ideal for Durand tonearms, it also improves performance on other tonearms and turntables.
