About the 701
The Dual 701 turntable features an innovative low-speed, electronically controlled direct drive motor rotating at record speed (33 1/3 and 45 rpm), eliminating the need for belts or idlers. It is renowned for its quiet operation and low vibration, with wow and flutter under 0.03% and rumble below 50 dB unweighted. The tonearm is a torsionally rigid tubular aluminum design with a four-point gimbal suspension and mechanical anti-resonance filters, allowing precise tracking with adjustable needle pressure from 0 to 3 grams. The platter is non-magnetic, dynamically balanced, and detachable, weighing 2.9 kg. The turntable includes pitch control with 10% adjustment and an illuminated stroboscope for speed accuracy. The Denon DL-110 cartridge is a high output moving coil type with 1.6 mV output, allowing direct connection to MM phono inputs without a step-up transformer. It has a special elliptical diamond stylus (0.1 x 0.2 mm), frequency response from 20 Hz to 45 kHz, recommended tracking force of 1.8 g ±0.3 g, and weighs 4.8 g. This combination offers excellent tonal balance, transient response, and articulation, making it a classic high-fidelity setup.
