About the CS 5000

The Dual CS 5000 is a three-speed (33⅓, 45, 78 rpm), semi-automatic, belt-driven turntable designed for high-quality vinyl playback. It uses the EDS 5000 microprocessor-controlled quartz belt drive DC motor for highly stable and accurate speed control. The deck features a non-magnetic, removable 304 mm platter and an integrated low-mass aluminium tubular tonearm with Kardan (cardan) suspension and OPS (Optical Positioning System) for precise tracking and reduced resonance. The effective tonearm length is 221 mm, with 18 mm overhang and an offset angle of 22°25′. Wow and flutter are specified at ±0.025% DIN and ±0.015% WRMS, and the rumble (signal-to-noise ratio) is 56 dB unweighted and 80 dB weighted. Typical supply includes an Ortofon OMB 20E moving-magnet cartridge fitted with a DN 20 NE biradial elliptic stylus, giving a specified frequency response of 10 Hz-28 kHz and compliance around 35 µm/mN. The CS 5000 also incorporates an effective damping system with a floating chassis and adjustable shock-absorbing feet to minimise external vibrations. Original finishes included oiled walnut or black wood plinths.
