The Dual C 844 is a Japanese-made, three-head stereo cassette deck introduced in 1981 and generally listed as manufactured through 1983. It supports standard cassette tape speeds of 4.75 and 9.5 cm/s, with the latter providing double-speed recording and playback. Compatible tape formulations include Normal (Type I), CrO₂ (Type II), FeCr (Type III), and Metal (Type IV). Features include Dolby B and Dolby C noise reduction, an FM MPX filter, dual microphone inputs, RCA and DIN connections, a digital tape counter, and a headphone output with level control. Published standard-speed frequency response is approximately 20 Hz–16/17 kHz with Normal and CrO₂ tape and up to 20 kHz with Metal tape; performance figures vary by speed and tape formulation. Dimensions are approximately 440 × 112 × 355 mm and weight is about 9 kg.
