About the 1264
The Dual 1264 is a classic 2-speed (33 1/3 and 45 rpm) fully automatic turntable with a belt-drive system and pitch control allowing approximately ±6% adjustment at 33 1/3 rpm. It features an illuminated stroboscope for precise speed monitoring, adjustable to 50 or 60 Hz mains frequency. The platter is non-magnetic, weighs 1 kg, and measures 304 mm in diameter. The turntable is powered by a 16-pole synchronous motor with a flat belt drive, consuming approximately 8 watts. It has a torsion-resistant tubular aluminum tonearm with a four-point gimbal bearing, effective length of 221 mm, offset angle of 24°, and very low bearing friction. Stylus pressure is adjustable from 0 to 30 mN with fine calibration. The unit weighs about 4.1 kg and was manufactured around 1980. It supports cartridges with 1/2 inch screw-type attachment and can accommodate cartridges weighing up to 15 mN stylus pressure. The turntable offers low wow and flutter (±0.04% WRMS) and good rumble performance (48 dB unweighted, 70 dB weighted). Voltage and frequency can be changed by adjusting the motor pulley, supporting 115 or 230 V and 50 or 60 Hz mains supply. This model is well-regarded for its automatic operation, build quality, and precise speed control.
