The DS Audio Grand Master EX Optical Cartridge is a high-end analog phono cartridge that uses a 0.22mm square one-piece diamond cantilever with an integral Micro Ridge stylus tip made from a single diamond. This design eliminates the adhesive joint found in traditional cantilever and stylus assemblies, allowing for more accurate and direct transmission of groove modulations to the third-generation optical generator. The cartridge features photo-electric conversion with channel separation greater than 27dB at 1kHz, an output signal level exceeding 70mV, and weighs 7.7 grams. The body is made from ultra duralumin with a stainless steel cantilever holder. It requires a tracking force of 2.0g to 2.2g (2.1g recommended). The shading plate is made from 99.9% pure beryllium, reducing mass and improving performance. The cartridge is designed to work with a dedicated equalizer and power supply unit that provides 700mV output voltage and supports RCA and XLR connections.
