About the Evolution Phono
The Doshi Audio Evolution Phono Preamplifier is a two-chassis tube phono stage designed to provide an emotional and highly detailed connection from vinyl records to the listener. It supports 3 stereo inputs configurable as 2 MM and 1 MC or 2 MC and 1 MM, with RCA or XLR connectors, and offers 2 stereo outputs with RCA and XLR options. The unit features adjustable loading settings for MC cartridges, which can be controlled via remote and stored in memory. It uses 6 tubes per channel (12AX7, 12AT7, 12DW7) and delivers a total gain of up to 72 dB, with MC gain adjustable between 14 dB and 20 dB and MM gain at 50-54 dB. The design includes a new power supply with high stability, ultra-low noise floor, passive power correction, and premium components like AudioCapX and ClarityCap capacitors to reduce distortion and enhance transparency and dynamics. The chassis is mechanically isolated with vibration damping and made from stainless steel for strength and non-magnetic properties. The phono stage uses passive RIAA equalization with a low output impedance follower for accurate de-emphasis and dynamic headroom. It weighs 34 lbs including the power supply and is finished in natural or black anodized aluminum. The unit is highly regarded for its dynamic performance, low noise, and musicality, making it suitable for audiophiles seeking a reference-quality vinyl playback experience.
