About the Dohmann Helix 1
The Dohmann Helix 1 is a state-of-the-art high-performance turntable designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional analog playback. It features a fully integrated Swiss-manufactured high torque motor with a dual belt platter drive system engineered to reduce static electricity and vibrations. The turntable incorporates advanced vibration isolation technologies including the MinusK Negative Stiffness Mechanism (NSM) providing 0.5 Hz vertical and 1.5 Hz horizontal isolation, Mechanical Crossover Technology (MCT), Tri-Modal Platter system (TMP), Edge Damping Ring (EDR), Tone arm Damping System (TDS), and Resonance Tuned Suspension (RTS). The bearing uses a Diamond Like Coating (DLC) amorphous material friction modifier for smooth operation. Speed is precisely controlled and constantly calibrated over 130,000 times per second to maintain exact 33.33 or 45.15 rpm, with 78 rpm and other speeds available on request. The turntable supports two tonearms up to 12 inches simultaneously, with removable advanced composite and aluminum armboards for easy interchange and calibration. The top plate is carbon fiber, available in black or titanium metallic finishes. Operation is via push buttons on the top plate and rear panel for speed selection and power. The Helix 1 Mk3 version includes a new bearing, power supply, resonance control, and future vacuum record hold-down technology. Dimensions are 600mm x 480mm x 250mm (23.6" x 18.9" x 9.8") and it weighs 76 kg (168 pounds). It was launched in 2015 and the Mk3 is the current model as of 2024. The price is approximately £64,998 (GBP), reflecting its premium status in the audiophile market.
