About the Doge 8

The Doge Audio Doge 8 is a remote-controlled, all-tube stereo line preamplifier with an integrated all-tube MM/MC phono stage. It is a substantial, single-ended design using four 12AT7-family tubes in the line stage and four 12AX7-family tubes in the phono stage. Original versions provide five line-level inputs, a selectable MM/MC phono input, and RCA plus balanced XLR outputs; later Clarity editions were also sold in RCA-only and RCA+XLR variants. The phono stage offers MM, high-output MC, and low-output MC operating selections, with high/low loading choices. The XLR-equipped edition adds two tubes to create balanced outputs; its core line/phono gain circuitry remains single-ended. A metal remote controls functions including volume, source selection, mute, and standby. The original Doge 8 was superseded by the Doge 8 LP around 2014, but the Doge 8 platform has subsequently continued in later Clarity editions; specifications may differ somewhat by production year and output configuration.
