The DeVore Fidelity Silverback Reference is a three-way, passive floorstanding loudspeaker with a 0.75-inch silk-dome tweeter, a 6.5-inch polypropylene-cone midrange, and two 8-inch treated-paper woofers in a push-push configuration. Its cabinet uses flared, nonparallel side panels to reduce internal standing waves, while the crossover is mechanically isolated using DeVore’s multi-stage suspended vibration-damping system. The speaker has a reported frequency response of approximately 20Hz–40kHz, 91dB sensitivity, and an essentially 8-ohm nominal impedance. It stands 47.5 inches tall, is just over 8 inches wide at the front and approximately 11–12 inches wide at the rear, measures 18 inches deep, and weighs about 100 pounds per speaker. The Silverback Reference has been discontinued and was succeeded in DeVore’s range by the Gibbon X.
