The Denon DVD-5900 is a flagship universal DVD player released around 2003-2004, designed for audiophiles and videophiles. It supports DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD (SACD), HDCD decoding, and standard DVD and CD formats. It features Burr-Brown 24-bit, 192-kHz PCM/DSD 1790 audio DACs for high fidelity audio playback. The player includes advanced video processing with a Faroudja DCDi deinterlacer and scaler, enabling progressive scan output and upconversion of standard DVDs to HD resolutions (720p/1080i) via its DVI output, which is HDCP compliant. The DVD-5900 offers extensive connectivity including component video outputs with 75-ohm BNC connectors, S-Video, composite video, DVI, and IEEE 1394 (FireWire) for digital audio interfacing. It has a robust, vibration-resistant chassis with separated audio and video circuits for noise reduction. The player also features full digital bass management and delay compensation for DVD-Audio and SACD formats, with Denon Link for interfacing with compatible receivers. Additional features include support for MP3/WMA playback, JPEG photo viewing, and CD-R/RW compatibility. The unit measures approximately 17.1" W x 5.5" H x 17.1" D and weighs about 27.7 lbs (13.3 kg).
