The 103R variant has revised coil winding and wire, resulting in lower internal impedance (approximately 14 ohms) and a slightly lower output voltage (around 0.25 mV), with a bit more treble presence compared to the standard 103. The cartridge is designed to fit standard EIA mounting dimensions and is compatible with universal tonearms. It weighs approximately 14 grams due to the heavier aluminum body, requiring appropriate tonearm counterweight adjustments. The stylus is an exposed spherical diamond tip, requiring careful handling.
