About the SPA-250 Plate
The Dayton Audio SPA-250 is engineered to provide high fidelity subwoofer amplification with flexibility, ample power, and reliability. It delivers 250 watts RMS into 4 ohms with less than 1% total harmonic distortion, making it ideal for home audio and home theater applications. The amplifier features a mono Class AB output stage for solid, well-defined output and includes both low-level (RCA) and high-level (speaker) inputs to connect to virtually any system. It offers a switchable 6 dB bass boost at 35 Hz to enhance bass extension, a variable low-pass crossover adjustable from 40 Hz to 180 Hz, and a phase switch (0° or 180°) for optimal integration with main speakers. The SPA-250 supports manual, auto, or triggered on/off modes for compatibility with automated systems and includes built-in protection against short circuits, thermal faults, and overloads. It is energy efficient, drawing less than 1 watt in standby mode, and supports switchable 115/230V input voltage. The amplifier also provides speaker-level high-pass outputs and line-level full bandwidth outputs for daisy chaining additional amplifiers. Its compact dimensions and reliable performance make it a popular choice for DIY subwoofer builders and audio enthusiasts.
