About the FM Classic
The Day Sequerra FM Reference Classic is a renowned high-performance FM tuner introduced in the early 1990s as an evolution of the original Sequerra designs. It features a sophisticated analog tuning system with a set-on accuracy better than 100Hz, avoiding the trade-offs of digital tuning. The unit includes balanced XLR outputs alongside traditional single-ended RCA outputs, allowing for balanced operation which is rare in tuners. It has a bright and responsive CRT scope for precise tuning and signal analysis. The tuner uses military-spec components, multiple regulated power supplies, and a custom toroidal transformer for stable operation. Over the years, it has received several upgrades including the Classic Upgrade (replacing CRT, faceplate, and IF filters), the Signature Modification (further CRT replacement, LED illumination, and audio stage improvements), and the 25th Anniversary Edition which replaced the CRT with an LCD display and added features to mitigate HD Radio interference. The FM Reference Classic is highly regarded for its natural and warm sound output and remains a top-tier choice for audiophiles seeking analog FM reception excellence.
