About the EA2100

The David Berning EA-2100 is an all-tube stereo power amplifier from the early 1980s that uses a compact high-frequency switching power supply instead of a heavy line-frequency transformer, allowing a much lighter chassis while maintaining excellent low-frequency power delivery. It is rated at approximately 100 watts per channel, using General Electric 6LF6 output tubes in class-B push-pull operation, with a 6SN7 driver and 12AT7 small-signal tubes per channel. The output stage is transformer-coupled rather than output-transformerless ZOTL, and the amplifier is known for its wide, spacious soundstage and precise stereo imaging, along with a cool-running, highly dynamic presentation for a tube design of its era. Originally introduced around 1983, the EA-2100 was later superseded by the EA-2101 when 6LF6 tubes became scarce, and it is no longer in current production.
