About the SU7
The Darlington Labs SU-7 is an active moving coil (MC) step-up head amplifier designed to enhance the signal from low-output MC cartridges. It features eight current-matched low-noise J-FETs in its input stage and a high-dynamic-range linear output stage. The SU-7 offers user-adjustable gain settings of +12dB, +18dB, +23dB, and +26dB, along with cartridge loading options of 47 ohms, 100 ohms, 220 ohms, 470 ohms, 1k ohms, 5k ohms, and 47k ohms. It uses a fully discrete low-feedback audio path and a sextuple-regulated discrete power supply for improved dynamics and soundstaging. The unit is powered by an external 24VAC power supply, which helps minimize noise and hum.
