About the Momentum M400 Mono
The Dan D'Agostino Momentum M400 Mono Amplifier is an evolution of the original Momentum amplifier, featuring a significant power increase to 400 watts at 8Ω, up from 300 watts. It incorporates a new ultra-quiet 1,800VA linear transformer and a fully complementary driver stage with individual transistors for positive and negative halves of the signal, nearly doubling current drive and open loop gain. This results in a richer, more authoritative, and expansive sound. The amplifier maintains the same chassis with minor aesthetic updates and a meter scaled for the higher power output. It is hand-built and individually tested in Arizona, using rugged through-hole construction for durability and superior performance. The amplifier supports 400 watts at 8Ω, 800 watts at 4Ω, and 1,600 watts at 2Ω, with a frequency response of 1 Hz to 200 kHz (-1 dB) and very low distortion (0.1% at 1 kHz). It features a single balanced XLR input, 1 MΩ input impedance, and 0.12Ω output impedance. The unit weighs 95 lbs and measures 12.5 x 21.5 x 5.25 inches. Custom finishes are available upon request. The Momentum M400 MxV is a further enhanced version with improved components and thermal management, but the M400 remains a flagship model known for its power, finesse, and musicality.
