The Daedalus Audio Athena mkII is an elegant mid-sized floorstanding speaker measuring approximately 38.5" x 11" x 14.5". It features a 1-inch soft dome tweeter and paper cone drivers with cloth surrounds treated for moisture resistance, ensuring durability and long-term performance. The speakers have a high sensitivity of 96 dB (1 watt/1 meter) and are designed to be driven by amplifiers ranging from 5 to 350 watts per channel. The crossover network is custom-designed and built by Guy Veralrud, incorporating high-voltage polypropylene and Teflon capacitors, premium resistors, and advanced damping materials to enhance sound quality. The Athena mkII delivers balanced, detailed sound with precise imaging and dynamic capability, suitable for a variety of music genres including orchestral, blues, jazz, and rock. It is noted for its ability to reveal recording details and accurately reflect amplifier characteristics. The cabinet is available in solid Cherry wood with optional North American hardwoods and decorative inlays. Optional grills are available. The design aims to blend seamlessly into home decor while providing audiophile-grade sound performance. The Athena mkII is made in the USA and is considered a timeless, heirloom-quality speaker.
