About the Vita
The Croft Vita is a valve-based phono preamplifier designed with a line gain stage using 6SL7 tubes and RIAA equalization implemented with three 6N9S/6H9C tubes. It is considered a rare and short-lived model. The design includes a phono input stage without a capacitor for input load of the connected moving magnet cartridge and lacks bypass capacitors at the input and output of the 12V voltage regulator. Modifications have been discussed in audiophile communities to convert the line gain stage into a cathode follower buffer and to increase idle current for improved performance. The unit is valued for its valve sound characteristics and is sought after by enthusiasts familiar with Croft's valve preamplifier designs.
