The Creek Audio Ruby DAC Module is designed as a plug-in upgrade for the EVOLUTION 50A and EVOLUTION 100A integrated amplifiers, replacing Line Input 5 to add extensive digital connectivity. It includes 4 SPDIF inputs (2 optical TOSLINK and 2 coaxial), a USB input (Class 1 or Class 2 depending on version) supporting up to 24 bit/192 kHz audio, Bluetooth connectivity based on CSR Bluecore technology for wireless streaming from smartphones or tablets, and an integrated FM tuner circuit derived from the AMBIT module. The FM tuner supports 76-108 MHz frequency range (region selectable), 100 presets, and improved sound quality by routing the tuner’s digital output through the Ruby’s Wolfson WM8742 DAC chip. The DAC chip is a high-end Wolfson WM8742 designed in Scotland, capable of 24 bit/192 kHz conversion, delivering a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 125 dB and total harmonic distortion below 0.001% at 48 kHz. The module enhances the amplifier’s versatility by adding digital sources and wireless streaming while maintaining high fidelity sound quality.
