About the Evolution 5350
The Creek Audio Evolution 5350 integrated amplifier bridges the gap between entry-level and top-range Creek models, combining technology from the Evolution 2 and Classic 5350SE. It features a high current bipolar power amplifier capable of driving low impedance loudspeakers with dynamic music from high resolution sources. The amplifier delivers over 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms and over 200 watts into 4 ohms, powered by a robust 350 watt toroidal transformer with separate supplies for left and right channels. It includes a pre-amplifier section with five selectable inputs via gold-plated relays, a digitally controlled analogue volume control (PGA2320), and OPA604 op-amps for low distortion and high overload margin. The unit supports plug-in phono pre-amps for MM and MC cartridges. Protection circuitry guards against over-current, short circuits, over-temperature, and DC offsets, with relays muting inputs and speaker outputs in fault conditions. The front panel has rotary digital controls for input selection and volume, push buttons for tape, speaker selection, mute, and power, and a vacuum fluorescent display showing input, volume, and speaker status with adjustable brightness. Connectivity includes two pairs of high current gold-plated binding posts for speakers, headphone output, tape output, pre-amp output, and an AV Direct input for integration with home theater systems. The amplifier comes with the Creek SRC3 remote control compatible with other Creek components. Dimensions are approximately 430 x 90 x 370 mm (17 x 3.6 x 14.6 inches) and weight is about 10.5 kg (23 lbs).
