About the Hardwood "Spice-Rack"
The Core Audio Designs Hardwood "Spice-Rack" is a premium audio component rack made from medium to high density hardwoods, designed to optimize vibration damping and complement high-end audio systems aesthetically. It features solid hardwood uprights milled from eight-quarter FAS certified heartwood, available in various wood species such as Rift White Oak, Black Walnut, Natural Maple, Natural Cherry, African Sapele, African Zebra, African Wenge, and African Bubinga. The shelves are 2 inches thick, made from high-density domestic apple-ply consisting of 34 layers of hardwood with a milled center core that creates a hollow chamber for damping materials. These chambers are preloaded with lead, clay, and silica, sealed within dual poly bags, and further damped with butyl resin, aluminum, and closed cell foam layers. The rack uses Di-Bond®/ALUPANEL® aluminum composite panels with a brushed copper finish to conceal damping materials. The design employs dado joinery and threaded metal inserts for sturdy assembly, and the dense hardwood uprights act as mechanical diodes to drain unwanted vibrations to the ground. The rack is handcrafted in the USA and is suitable for discerning audiophiles seeking both functional and elegant furniture for their listening environments. Typical pricing starts at depending on wood species, with lead times of 4-6 weeks.
