About the Flat-10
The Coral Flat-10 is a full range loudspeaker chassis manufactured by Coral in Japan around 1973 to 1980. It features a 25 cm double-cone paper diaphragm mixed with chemical fiber, with a hard lightweight alloy dome in the center to improve ultra-high frequency directional characteristics. The driver uses a long voice coil with copper clad aluminum wire to reduce distortion and a ceramic magnet for improved efficiency. It has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, power handling of 40 watts max, and an efficiency of 102 dB/W/m. The frequency response ranges from 35 Hz to 20 kHz. The unit measures 302 mm in diameter and 105 mm in depth, weighing 2.8 kg. It employs a flat-mounting method with a prominent frame to reduce cavity resonance effects when mounted on a baffle. The Flat-10 is part of Coral's Flat Series, which includes several other models. It is highly regarded for its smooth, refined sound with good bass and midrange performance, and is considered one of the best full range drivers from Coral's lineup.
