About the CDA 823
The Copland CDA 823 is an evolution of the renowned CDA 822 CD player, designed with audiophile-grade components and engineering. It employs true 24-bit, high-resolution, dual differential digital-to-analog converters with current output to achieve wide dynamic range, fast conversion, and low noise. The player uses 192kHz oversampling to prevent energy and transparency loss in the analog output filter. Jitter distortion is minimized by sample rate converters and a precision internal master clock. The output stage features discrete class-A input amplifiers with carefully selected operational points, avoiding the limitations of fixed operational amplifiers. It provides both fully balanced and single-ended analog outputs at 2.0 V RMS, plus a digital S/PDIF output. The CDA 823 supports CD-R playback and has a minimalistic Scandinavian design with a solid aluminum front panel. It includes a remote control for most functions and offers firmware updates via flash programmable microprocessors. Dimensions are 430(W) x 110(H) x 390(D) mm, with a weight of approximately 9-10 kg. Power consumption is 40W, and it is factory set for 115V or 230V mains voltage with a ±12% range. The player is praised for its rhythmic drive, clarity, and tonal accuracy, though the CD transport mechanism is somewhat slow and noisy compared to high-end standards.
