About the SL1 Renaissance
The Convergent Audio Technology SL-1 Renaissance is a refined version of the original SL-1 preamplifier introduced in 1985. It features an internal switch to select gain levels of 26dB or 15dB for line inputs, allowing better control with high output sources or sensitive speakers. The unit supports audio/video pass-through for home theater integration and includes new MC step-up transformers. It uses six 6922 and four 12AX7 tubes, with a bandwidth extended to 800kHz and harmonic distortion below 0.0005% for line stage and 0.001% for phono stage. The phono section supports both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges with gains of 47dB and 58dB respectively, and precise RIAA equalization. The preamplifier is housed in a strong steel chassis with anti-RFI plating and mechanical isolation feet, and uses high-quality Black Path capacitors and military-grade rotary switches. It comes with an external power supply to reduce hum and noise, and offers a 3-year warranty. The SL-1 Renaissance is available with or without the phono stage and can be upgraded to Black Path or Legend versions for enhanced performance.
