About the ET7-II Tube Linestage

The ET7-II (also known as ET7-S2) is an enhanced triode tube linestage preamplifier from Conrad Johnson, designed to deliver natural, organic sound with excellent clarity and detail. It uses a single 6922 double triode tube operating as a single-ended triode per channel, providing voltage gain. The signal is buffered by a high-current MOSFET stage to achieve very low output impedance, allowing flexible interconnect cable design. The power supply is carefully regulated with discrete voltage regulators and uses DC voltage for tube heaters to minimize infra-sonic noise. The ET7-II features microprocessor-controlled relays for input selection and volume control, with 100 steps of approximately 0.7 dB per step, controllable via front panel or remote. It includes five single-ended line inputs and two external processor loops. The unit is built with high-quality components such as CJD Teflon capacitors, polypropylene capacitors in the power supply, laser-trimmed metal foil resistors, and gold-plated oxygen-free copper connectors. It weighs 19 lbs and measures 19"W x 15.375"D x 4.375"H.
