The Conrad-Johnson ART Preamplifier is a high-end, dual-chassis tube line stage preamplifier introduced as a limited edition of 250 units. It uses ten 6922 dual triodes arranged in a composite triode circuit to achieve a single gain stage with very low output impedance and minimal distortion. The design is notable for its zero negative feedback architecture, resulting in a pure and natural sound. It features five single-ended RCA inputs and two processor loops, with two single-ended RCA outputs and two processor loops. The unit is remote-controlled with microprocessor-controlled relays for input selection and volume adjustment in 100 steps. The ART inverts phase and offers a maximum voltage gain of 26 dB and maximum output of 15 V. It is built with precision bulk metal foil resistors, polystyrene capacitors, and gold-plated oxygen-free copper connectors. The power supplies are fully regulated with discrete voltage regulators to isolate audio circuits from power line noise. The chassis are designed to be stacked and weigh a total of 50 lbs. The ART is highly regarded for its musical involvement, clarity, and timbral richness, making it a reference standard in high-end audio preamplifiers.
