The Coincident Speaker Technology Total Eclipse is the largest loudspeaker in the Eclipse line, designed as a full-range, high-efficiency floorstander that can be used with low-powered tube amplifiers yet handle very high power levels. It uses an MTM (midrange-tweeter-midrange) front baffle with two 6.5" midrange drivers flanking a 1" Scan-Speak Revelator silk-dome tweeter, plus twin 10" side-mounted woofers dedicated to low-frequency reproduction. The speaker employs a first-order crossover with points at 125 Hz and 3 kHz and audiophile-grade components, including a very large woofer inductor, to maintain phase coherence and low distortion. Coincident enclosures are tuned to around 350 Hz to shift resonant energy into a benign region and minimize the need for heavy internal damping, contributing to higher system sensitivity and dynamic freedom. The Total Eclipse offers a claimed frequency response of 24 Hz–25 kHz, sensitivity of 94 dB (1 W/1 m), and nominal impedance of 14 ohms, making it a very easy load for single-ended triode and other low-powered tube amplifiers while still supporting up to 500 watts of input power. Each speaker measures 52" H × 9" W × 22" D and weighs roughly 165 lb, and is voiced for neutral tonal balance, high resolution, and excellent soundstaging rather than showy or exaggerated effects.
