The Classe CAV-150 is a Class AB 6-channel power amplifier designed for high current and detailed sound reproduction. It delivers 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms across six channels, with the ability to bridge channels for increased power: 300 watts per channel when bridged (e.g., 5 channels at 300W and 1 at 150W, or 4 channels at 300W and 2 at 150W). The amplifier features both single-ended and balanced inputs with external switching capability for different channel configurations. It has a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a very low total harmonic distortion of 0.004%, a gain of 29 dB, and a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 135 dB. The input sensitivity is approximately 1.2 volts, with input impedances of 75 kOhms (single-ended) and 16 kOhms (balanced). The output impedance is 0.05 ohms, and the amplifier supports speaker loads down to 4 ohms minimum. Power consumption at idle is about 225 watts. The unit measures approximately 6.75" x 19" x 21.5" (net dimensions) and weighs around 70 lbs. It is noted for excellent bass control, airiness, and flexibility in multi-channel home theater or stereo applications. The front panel LED changes color from red to green to indicate operational status. This amplifier is no longer in current production but remains sought after for its sound quality and power capabilities.
